A warrior sworn to kill or die trying…
A woman going through a deadly transformation…
Can they reach safety together?
Or have both of them been Targeted for death?

Emily Brooks is just an unremarkable girl living a boring existence--she teaches kindergarten, has a small house on the north end of Tampa, and tries not to envy her sister's perfect life. But Emily holds a remarkable secret within--one that won't stay hidden much longer. She is about to become something and someone completely different--that is, if she lives long enough to undergo the transformation.

Tragar is a Beast Kindred with tragedy in his past. Pain and loss have driven him from the Kindred way of life and into a new career--that of a deadly Verrak assassin. The Verrak take an oath to kill every target they contract for or die trying. Now Emily is in his crosshairs but the moment he gets close enough to her, his sharp Kindred senses tell him something is different about this particular target. Emily is a Khalla--a rare female who some say embody the essence of the Goddess herself. She is a treasure beyond compare. Tragar is well aware that his own choices have left him unfit to serve her but at least he can protect her until he can find someone worthy on his home planet of Rageron.

But there are dark forces in their way. Tragar's oath to kill can not be broken lightly. And there is a shadowy figure rising from the darkness who wishes to claim Emily's life. Can the fallen warrior guide and protect Emily to the place she truly belongs? Or will he die trying? You'll have to read Targeted to find out.

Targeted BBW Alien Scifi Romance Brides of the Kindred Book 15 edition by Evangeline Anderson Reese Dante Barb Rice Literature Fiction eBooks

I read the first few books in a matter of weeks, I couldn't put them down. Sure, the storyline was slightly cheesy, and the vernacular a little off-putting in places, but I really enjoyed the characters. Fifteen books in, however, we've traded Baird and Olivia for a slew of couples who hold your attention for 75% of the book, and lots are barely mentioned again. As much as I loved this world to start out with, I feel like Anderson is running out of ideas, and is rapidly reaching ridiculousness. Now we have what essentially amounts to werewolf Kindred? Ughh. If she would spend a little more time on each book, maybe add a little depth, they might get back to what they used to be. Now they have more of a 'whatever I write in a week is what I'm handing in' feel. Maybe then you wouldn't notice sentences repeated in numerous books, odd conversations that serve no purpose that are blatant hints to the plot of the next book, grammatical errors, and now even mixing up people's names. You can't just call a guy Solar for 2 entire books and then change his name to Saber in the last 2 paragraphs. Get it together, girl!

There's only a few books left. Hopefully they are better. I'm going to be really disappointed if she created this really cool world, only to blot it out herself.

Targeted BBW Alien Scifi Romance Brides of the Kindred Book 15 edition by Evangeline Anderson Reese Dante Barb Rice Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I haven't stopped reading this series since I started book 1. Each book in this series gets better and better.
It's truly one of the best alien series.

This book was really amazing. The characters are intriguing. I feel like Evangeline makes her characters very relatable. This book specifically fits so very well in this day and age. The whole situation Emily found herself in and had to over come.

This book has it all. You'll laugh, cry and most definitely be fanning yourself from the steamy sex scenes. Loved this book. I already started the next one
When I first started reading this book I felt that the author might have finally run out of imaginative storytelling on the Brides of the Kindred. She's written before about a female lead who's been raped in her past making her wary of any relationship with men meeting a Kindred who has to increasingly have sexual contact with her to help her in her particular situation, but doesn't think he is a worthy mate for this woman along with the usual corrupted High Priestess. (You wonder why the Goddess lets her High Priestess get away with the abuse she hands her Kallas for so long.) I was feeling that the series got stuck in a repetitive format with just the names changed, but I stuck with the book despite this and found myself getting involved with Emily and Tragar who was given a contract to kill her and discovered that the author still has what it takes to ultimately catch my interest about the KIndred and their brides in this ongoing series of books. This book isn't one of my favorites, but I won't be returning it and it sets up the next book "Forgotten" which I am really looking forward to as it sounds like a more original twist to the story that hasn't been written before.
Okay, when this series first came out I was all over it. It was unique, the characters were unique, the heroes were all unique. Did I say unique enough? Now, though.... It's all the same character with a different "tragic backstory" thrown in to make it seem like they're new characters. After reading the 15th book in this series, I've come to the conclusion that Evangeline Anderson only knows how to write one heroine, one hero, and one villain with one plot.

The heroine a shy, retiring girl who may or may not be afraid of her own shadow OR a fiery upstart who becomes shy and retiring around the hero or anything even remotely related to sex. Speech patterns are always hesitant with lots of little ... when something racy or uncomfortable happens. "I guess... I mean... Okay, I ... guess." Really? This started with the first character who bonded with a Blood Kindred and has NEVER. STOPPED. I'm sick of it. Also, I really appreciate that some of her characters are survivors of sexual abuse, harassment, and rape, but for heaven's sake. Read a psychology textbook or paper written on PTSD of sexual trauma survivors if you're going to write about that kind of character with any depth or frequency.

The hero they all talk the exact same way. It's as if at their core they are a Ken doll with programming for dialogue, they just have interchangeable hair and eye color and extra Kindred kinks. They even talk dirty the exact same way. I won't include any quotes here, but c'mon! The last three books have included at least 5 repeats of the same phrase in the same scenario. I know we can't all be Kresley Cole, but at least put some effort into it. This author has started writing on autopilot, and it shows.

The villain Just. Stop, okay? There's no real depth to the villain, and the villain is the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A STORY! The hyperbolic evil and exaggerated hand rubbing, beard stroking, cloak swishing, "Eh, he he heh. I'm evil. Can't you see how evil I am? I'm going to purposefully make my plan too convoluted to work, while simultaneously sabotaging myself and ignoring all advice to close the holes in my plan!" He's like the guy who was always tying Penelope Pitstop to the train tracks. Winning against this guy is like outrunning a paraplegic. Sure, you can do it, but there's no honor or achievement or catharsis in doing so.

The plot Hero has a tragic backstory that perfectly complements the heroine's tragic backstory, and then they're put into a situation where they have to have sex to save one or the other OR to fulfill some type of subterfuge. Every. Single. Book. There are other types of conflict. There are other types of consent.

If you've read this far, you might be a little rancorous about my review. "It's just fiction, what more could you expect?" And I get it, I really do. It is fiction. But at 3.99 a book, I expect a lot more variety than this. This is a Dollar Tree book sold at Target prices. I will not be buying any more of this series. This author has already gotten over $60 for the same exact book with "different characters" and I'm just done with it.
